The Center for Disease Control sites Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as the most diagnosed behavioral disorder in children. In 2022, the CDC reported over 7 million (11.4%) U.S. children aged 3–17 years were diagnosed with ADHD. That is a million more cases compared to 2016. In addition, the CDC also estimates 6.0% or 15.5 million adults have an ADHD diagnosis.
Most everyone knows someone with an ADHD diagnosis (child or adult). The traditional diagnosis process does not consist of a physical test like a blood test or X-ray. It is done based on an evaluation of symptoms. A treatment plan is then established that may include stimulant medications. As a parent, you are left with very few options outside of this medication.
Could the many ADHD symptoms that are evaluated be caused by something else? At The Wellness Way we approach ADHD from a different perspective seeking out root causes of symptoms instead.
This evaluation may include addressing:
• Nutritional deficiencies & consumption of highly processed foods
• Gut health and leaky gut
• Food sensitivities that cause inflammation
• Environmental toxins like mold that may contribute to lack of attention and brain fog
Discovering potential root causes provides needed information to create a targeted plan to support the body and brain from a natural perspective.
